Take a tour of the most popular Portland
Fountains with Walk Portland
In the
summer, fountain tours can be arranged that are great for kids. On that tour, we
visit
at least five interactive Downtown Fountains. We also ride
MAX and the Portland Streetcar (both free in that area of town). Bring a
swimsuit, towel, snacks, and sunglasses. It's a wet and wild experience you
won't soon forget!

~A seaside in the city! Jamison Square and fountain is a fun place to go if
you live in the city or out. We (country folk) drove 20 minutes into town
on a weekday and the kids thought it was worth it. Shady spots are at a premium.
We pushed a baby stroller right up to the "surf" and the older kids (8, 6,
5) splashed around and enjoyed the "waves" rushing over the stones. This
would be fun place to visit when you have out of town guests...a great
place to people watch and enjoy a slice of Portland urban life. Caveat:
The rough stones and wading area floor snagged up the kids new swim wear
terribly. Maybe wear old suits?

~Great fun. Often crowded on weekends. Warning no public bathroom anywhere near
by. - Betsy, NW Portland Mom of 2
~Betsy, There are bathrooms across the street from Jamisen park in the Hot
Lips Pizza mall.... Caroline, NW PDX Mom of 1
~We Loved this fountain! Went on a weekday
around 5ish and it was not crowded at
all and even got front row parking. Our 2 year old loved it.. and so did
we!

~Wonderful place to cool off,
picnic and play on the toys! - Dawn, Beaverton Mom of 1
~This fountain would be fun for bigger kids. My kids (8 and under) thought
the upward streams of water were somewhat intimidating - like firehoses
shooting up their backsides! A small bit of shade can be found
surrounding the fountain. Their is a shady park adjacent with a small play
structure. We probably wouldn't return to this fountain unless we
moved to the neighborhood. A nice place to get wet...if you don't
happen to have running water at home.

~Cute!
At first glance this new fountain looked a little "weak". Wrong! This one
has fun little surprise "squirts" and intermittent streams that make it a blast
for younger kids, older kids, and even grumpy mamas. :) The park is
new, so there is little to no shade unless you are under the pavilion. Wear hats
and sun block! Near Streets of Tanasbourne.

Great fun and a learning
opportunity too! My little water baby loved splashing in the water feature. No
area is too deep, and there are little geysers and waterfalls to play in. -

This is a great park that
features fun interactive water features for all ages. There are covered picnic
areas and lots of open grassy areas. The down side, however, is that is somewhat
close to a busy road. For a schedule of operations call the water feature
hotline at 503-685-6356. Mama B, Wilsonville Mom of 2

Comments:
The fountain is at the Commons in Tualatin. Next to the “lake”, by
Haydens and across from Haggens. This is a really big fountain that does kind of
a synchronized water dance. It was made especially for the purpose of playing in
and the water is chlorinated. On hot days, there is usually an ice cream truck
or Italian ice stand. There is also three restaurants nearby and a grassy area.
Since it is pretty much on the lake, some people let there children actually
play in the lake water, which I recommend against. It is filthy, stagnate and
full of ducks and poo, but its nice to look at and the fountain is lots of fun!
