~This was a great kid hike. We took two 3
year old girls and they did
very well. My daughter Nevara especially liked the bridges and the
cave. There were lots of great photo ops and the hike is short enough
you don't have to even bring a pack.

~This is an easy hike suitable for families with kids who will ride in a
backpack. we have even managed this trail with our little ones in a
jogger/stroller. our two year old loves to hike the last quarter mile or so on
his own, and there is a cave that he searches for ogres! The falls are
spectacular, and it is a hike in the gorge that travels away from the highway,
and doesn't go sraight up. It's really wonderful in the summertime, but we enjoy
it throughout the year.

Multnomah Falls
Oregon Hikes with Kids
Traveling West on Interstate 84, you may access Multnomah Falls via the Historic
Columbia River Highway at Exit 35 or you may use the freeway parking lot by
taking Exit 31
Comments:
~Now that both of the kids are walking, this is an incredible place, a short
drive, for them to stretch their legs. With the little creek and the diverse
wildlife that inhabits the area, we are never at a loss for new things to see.
Additionally, for train lovers (as my son is) the is a great chance to see real
life locomotives from a safe distance.

~~All of the waterfalls along the
Columbia River highway are beautiful and interesting, each in their own
unique way. Multnomah Falls is especially fun because you can hike up to
the bridge right in front of the falls and feel the spray on your face.

~This is a beautiful place, but what made it
really special was the free Sunday afternoon tour. The tour guide shared so
many interesting and fascinating things about the trees, plants, and wildlife.

~My family just recently moved here and this park is just down the street
from our house. It has tons of parking, great trails for hiking next to the
river, and picnic spaces for lunch. Just a beautiful place to enjoy God's
creation.

Walking Clubs:
www.ava.org
~There is an organization called American Volksport Association that has 5K and 10K walks all around the US. Seeing as we
are getting into spring many of these walks will be happening. They typically
are on the weekends but they also have what are called Year Rounds which begin
in many places. They are all free unless you want to keep track of your walks
and then they are $3. They are put together very nicely and always state if
they are stroller/wheelchair/dog friendly.
We have many local clubs as well that folks can join. It is nice because it has
a range for start times and starts are in many different locations around the
Portland metro area and beyond.
