Bowling alleys and other "fun centers" have come a long way in recent
years. No longer are they smoke-filled havens. Most facilities offer
family-friendly amenities including "bumper bowling" for younger bowlers
where bumpers are put up to prevent gutter balls. "Cosmic bowling" and
"glow in the dark bowling" are other features that attract kids and families
of all ages. |

~Great cheap
afternoon of fun with the kids. Spend the afternoon playing in
the jungle gym. Pay for the kids and the parents can play for
free. A great way to wear them out and get in a fun workout for
yourself!

~Great for kids a little too old or big for
Community Center indoor parks. Great exercise and endless fun for kids,
some adults like it too. 2 boys said that the Clackamas location was more
fun but I sure couldn't tell the difference

~Not technically a family fun center, but who says the mall can't be fun?
Experience a bit of Portland history at Jantzen Beach. The carousel in
inside - so
it would be a good rainy day activity. Only $1.00 per ride!

~Last week, we celebrated my son's 10th birthday
at Tigard Bowl. We had a group of 10 boys to entertain for two hours, and the
party package they offered made it fun and simple. We started with "Glow
Bowling" for one hour, where the lights go out, the bumpers come up, and the
music is loud! The birthday child gets an honorary bowling pin for his guests
to sign as a memento. Nice touch. After bowling, we walked next door to the
Pizza Caboose for a large pizza of our choice and pitcher of soda. We chose our
toppings at the bowling alley so that our pizza was ready when we arrived.
Another nice touch for a group of hungry party-goers. The cost was only $60.00
for six or less children, which included bowling, shoes, pizza and soda. Since
we had more than six guests, we purchased a double package and had two
side-by-side lanes, as well as two pizzas and pitchers of soda. FYI - the pizza
were HUGE, so one would easily feed up to six little guys. My son had a great
time and so did his friends. (And so did my wallet!)
